The 44 Project was never created to follow trends—it was created to build a legacy.

 

My name is Donte D. Powell, and I founded The 44 Project with one purpose in mind: to create something that represents resilience, community, culture, and the belief that where you come from should never limit where you’re going.

 

Born and raised with deep roots in Acres Homes, Houston, Texas, I understand both the beauty and the adversity that come with growing up in a community that is often misunderstood. Instead of allowing my environment to define my future, I chose to let it fuel my purpose. Every challenge, setback, and victory became another brick in the foundation of what is now The 44 Project.

My Journey

Success has never come easy.

 

Like many people, I’ve experienced obstacles that tested my character and my determination. Those experiences shaped who I am today and taught me the importance of discipline, perseverance, faith, and service.

 

Professionally, I’ve dedicated my career to helping others through behavioral health, mental health services, and child welfare. Working with individuals and families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives strengthened my compassion and reinforced my commitment to making a positive impact far beyond business.

 

Education has also played a major role in my journey.

 

I proudly earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Texas Southern University, an accomplishment that reflects years of dedication and persistence. My educational background has helped me better understand people, leadership, communication, and the importance of building organizations that genuinely serve others.

 

My long-term vision extends beyond entrepreneurship. I continue pursuing opportunities to expand my education and leadership so I can make meaningful contributions within my community and beyond.
